Jaffna Toastmasters Club (JTMC) is a community of learners in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, who meet regularly to practice public speaking, improve communication, and build leadership skills. Chartered on 20 August 2008, we have been helping people in Jaffna find their voice for over 18 years. Our members come from all walks of life — students, teachers, engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs — united by the goal of becoming better communicators.
Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that has been teaching public speaking and leadership skills since 1924, with clubs in more than 140 countries. Members improve their skills by giving speeches, filling meeting roles, and receiving constructive feedback — all within a supportive club environment.
There is no instructor at a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, members evaluate one another's presentations and progress through the Pathways learning experience — a flexible, personalized program covering communication, leadership, and professional skills. Every meeting role, from Timer to Toastmaster of the Day, is a chance to practice a real-world skill.
We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
